Done and Done

I have actually had a productive weekend!

  • Taxes (Federal & State) – Done and Done.
  • 7 mile run (walk/jog) – Done.
  • Find boxes to begin packing – Done.
  • Continuation purging of unnecessary clutter – Done.
  • Laundry – (In process but considered) Done.
  • Blog post – Done.

For any of you who may be new to Pamland, today begins the month-long birthday celebration. Yes, you did read that correctly – Month-Long. And you will get tired of hearing birthday month, you may even be annoyed, alas it is the month of my birth and I will celebrate it as I see fit! April has been a month-long celebration for as long as I can remember. And it will continue.

Growing up, and for the last 26 years, my dad and his buds have taken a fishing trip to Dale Hollow Lake around the time of my birthday. It had something to do with the moon being full or something. Maybe that’s just a really good excuse, but I still buy it to this day. So, we would celebrate before he left. While he was gone, we’d do something for my actual birthday. And then he’d always bring me something home so it was like another celebration. If I’m going to celebrate for almost three weeks, why not just rename the entire month.

And to prove that I do refer to April as birthday month, this was on the Facebook page this morning. Obviously, Amber is quickly moving to the top of the friend list. Not that I’m one to keep a friend list, but if I had one, Amber, you’re the bestest!

Yep, on my Facebook wall!

Yep, on my Facebook wall!

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONTH to me! And be sure to mark that calendar – the best holiday of the year is April 24th!

How do you celebrate your birthday? Were you productive this weekend? Did any of my loyal readers win the MegaMillions this weekend and want to share?

Veto Power and Other Random Thoughts

Veto Power
So, I had my annual violation visit with my doctor last Friday. As as I eluded to a few days ago, it wasn’t the best of news. On Wednesday, I got more news regarding the visit – my test results were in. (I swear they drew 10 vials of blood from me – I’m surprised I’m not dead.)

I have high cholesterol. It’s been high for a long time. I know this. When I first found out 4 years ago, I tried taking Lipitor. It made me feel awful, so I vetoed the doctors orders and started taking fish oil supplements.

So, the nice nurse called to tell me they called in another Lipitor prescription for me because it was still high and I needed to get it down. So I whined and moaned and she didn’t really care. So I asked her to send me the lab results. And I was THRILLED with them! My cholesterol IS down. I’m no longer undesirable in the total cholesterol category, I’m borderline! That’s huge for me!

Is it wrong to use my power of veto again and just not get the prescription? I don’t want to take it. Am I just being a baby? Should I suck it up? She wants me to get rechecked in 4 weeks. Should I just do the 4 weeks and then tell her I’m done? I really don’t know what to do, so I do nothing!

Other Random Thoughts
1. I heart Google Reader. I am aware I am probably 40 years behind the technology but I love it! I don’t get 400 emails a day from my daily bloggers. I don’t know about you, but as soon as an email hits my inbox, I have to read it, file it or dispose of it. It can’t sit there. Makes me crazy. But with this Reader thing, I can read whenever. I even have it on my phone! Technology is grand!

1a. I subscribed to my blog on Google Reader. I think I’ve posted this week because I want to read my blog on my phone. I am that girl!

2. I did not want to run today. (From now on, when I say run, I mean walk/jog – just go with me.) However, I promised myself 30 minutes. I whined (in my head) the whole time. I thought about things I’d rather be doing – root canal, running into an ex-boyfriend, working, etc. I did 27:17. I felt that was close enough. And I was back at my car. No judgement please.

3. My legs wanted to run today. I hear these fables from runners about it hurting more to walk than run. I figured they were urban legends. But no, my legs wanted to run today. I ran (actual running) more today than probably all week. It was strangely odd and exciting at the same time.

4. If the weather is ok tomorrow, I’m running (see #2) from the office to my mom’s house to get my long run out of the way. I should probably figure out the exact mileage. I’m scheduled to do 7-8. I should be close. Mom will then drive me back to my office to get my car.

5. I have the best mom ever!

On that note, the best mom ever may kill me if I don’t get my taxes done soon. And I have time to do them tonight. Anyone care to place a wager on completion? Me either!

xoxo

Motivation….Is That You?

Don’t freak out – it’s really me, blogging, again, in one week. Crazy, right.

I’ve been thinking a lot about my last blog post and boy was I having a moment. I wasn’t just having a moment, I was feeling DAMN sorry for myself. I woke up super early on Monday morning with my mind just turning. Basically, I have two options:

A. I can choose to accept my current circumstances and pout.
B. I can choose to accept my current circumstances and make some changes.

I chose B.

Then I found this!

Taking one thing at a time….

1. I’m blogging again. I realized I could bust out a post in 30 minutes. I search the internet for 30 minutes a day. Write a blog post. Done.

2. I’ve sign up for this half marathon in May, might as well try my best. So, on Monday I walked/jogged 5 miles. And today, I logged a 5K. That’s 8 miles in two days! YAY me! My plan is to do another 3 miler Wednesday or Thursday with the other day being a rest day. Then Friday bust out a long walk/jog (7-8 miles). I’ve been jogging .25 miles and walking .75. Puts me around a 14 minute mile. I’m not out to break any records here, just want to finish.

3. I’ve decided to do the Advocare 24 day challenge.  I’m not sure when I’ll start because I need to work it into the budget but I’d like to finish the 24 days prior to the half. It’s a kick start.

I feel better. I feel like things are ok. Damn you endorphins!

Still haven’t finished my taxes. Must finish those this week! I can’t believe I’ve waited this long!

Have you tried any Advocare products? Or the 24 day challenge? Any advise? Finished your taxes yet?

Absolutely No Excuse

Oh little blog, I’ve abandoned you. Not intentionally. I think of you all the time. If only I could force myself to sit down and pen an incredible blog entry that will make you happy.

Unfortunately, the only reason I’m writing today is because I am avoiding my taxes like the plague. I’ve balanced my bank account, downloaded all the pictures from my phone and updated my iPod. Now, I’m blogging.

I’d love to tell you that Insanity is going GREAT, training is right on track and I’ve lost an incredible amount of weight. Alas, none of those are true. Insanity is hard. And my motivation is soft. Training is hard. And my motivation is soft. Cookies are good. And my will power is soft.

I’m a bit discouraged at the moment. The job is great, but again, I don’t want to be working. My weight is at the highest point ever. I will be walking about half marathon in May when I was hoping to be running the entire thing. I’m moving home at the end of April. All of these points will be detailed further in future posts.

There are still lots of things that make me happy!

Like the Shamrock 4-miler on St. Patty’s Day!

Friends who like to wake up at the crack of dawn and do the Shamrock 4-miler with me. Some even travel from Alabama to play with me. (Or were already coming anyway and made time for me!)

Being Coach Pam and working with my amazing Girls on the Run team!

Handsome men in my life!

And last but not least, my beloved Kentucky Wildcats are headed back to the Final Four! C-A-T-S CATS! CATS! CATS!

Now back to the taxes. 😦

Hello Little Blog

Hello little blog,

It’s been a long time! I’m so sorry to have neglected you for all of February. This is the first night I’ve had time to really sit down and focus on you!

Let me fill you in:

  1. New job is A-OK! Worked a little later tonight so I could finish closing the 2011 books. It’s taken me almost 2 weeks! I had to start thinking like the crazy lady who was doing them before me to figure out the method to her madness. But they are done and are going to the accountant on Tuesday. So happy!
  2. Coach Pam has been busy getting things ready for Girls on the Run. I’ve completed my bio, a multitude of forms, training and visited my site. Because it is at a catholic school, I had to take an additional Child Protection Protocols training. Basically, it was a CYA for the church and the Diocese. But good information. It could have been presented in about 45 minutes rather than 2 hours and I most definitely could have done without the video….but I survived. Saturday morning I am skipping the mini marathon training run to get CPR certified – a head coach requirement. Our first official practice is February 21st.
  3. Speaking of mini marathon, Monday it is officially 12 weeks away. My out-of-state training buddy prepared a training schedule for me! I love those kids from Alabama – wish they were closer. Anyway, I’ve been trying to run a few times a week. But starting Monday – I will follow the training schedule. I will tweak it a bit because……
  4. I started INSANITY!! Yes – Insanity, from Beach Body and smoking hot Shaun T – seriously have you seen that dude? H-O-T! And by starting Insanity, I mean I took my before photo and did the Fit Test. I also watched the first workout. Holy smokes! If I don’t drop some lbs doing this, they just aren’t going anywhere. I also have a little goal for you dear blog – once I complete Insanity, I’m going to post my before and after pictures. It will be embarrassing but people are going to see them when I’m on the next infomercial. I’m also going to try and post more about my training so you’re not neglected anymore.

Training, Insanity, GOTR, work, sleep – that’s about it. If it makes you feel any better, I’m way behind on reading blogs too! I’ve even been less active on Twitter and Facebook. See, you’re not the only one being ignored!

I’ll be back this weekend to post a few of the many draft posts I’ve started but never finished.

Thanks for not forgetting about me!

Love, Pam

Endorphins

Today I feel like a real live person!

I worked ALL DAY!
Then ran….who am I kidding – walk/jog
Then I went to the grocery store.
Then….wait for it…….I made dinner!
Now I’m in my PJs, writing a quick blog and doing some laundry.

Life is good!

One Busy Girl

I was doing so well blogging at least three times a week. And last week I failed. But I have a good excuse – I’ve been one busy girl.

1. I am dog/house sitting for two weeks. I wish I was invited to go to Maui with the homeowners, but no – just taking dogs out in the cold, snow, rain, or whatever other weather we have had this crazy winter. It’s beautiful home and the pups are wonderful (and I’m being paid) so there are no complaints from this girl!

2. I am babysitting (or after school care for my older kids). I pick them up from school or meet the bus everyday this week around 3. Then it’s snacks, homework, games, reading, cartoons and anything else I can do to keep them busy. I typically leave around 6. Super cute kids – I am lucky to get to spend some time with them.

3. I have a new job! I will make of a BIG DEAL out of this in a post later this week. I’m only work 8-12 this week and will be full time next week. YAY! I’m really, REALLY happy.

So my schedule looks like this:

  • 6 a.m. – Pups wake me up.
  • 6-6:30 a.m. – Pups potty and eat breakfast.
  • 6:30-7:15 a.m. – I get ready for work.
  • 7:15 – 7:30 a.m. – Try to get the pups to potty.
  • 7:30-8:00 a.m. – Travel to work (with a stop for a McDonald’s Diet Coke).
  • 8-12:00 p.m. – New gig.
  • 12-12:30 – Travel back to let the dogs out.
  • 12:30-1:15 p.m. – Travel to my apartment to feed the cats and scoop the poop. Usually with a quick stop for food.
  • 1:15 – 2:45 p.m. – Hang with the kittens and/or run errands. Yesterday, I ran errands. Today, I might have power napped.
  • 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. – After school care – Meet Kade off the bus, do homework, take Kade to practice, pick up Kooper at school, pick up Kade after practice, meet mom at home.
  • 6:00 p.m. – Come back to the house to feed and potty the dogs, check in on twitter and facebook, blog, eat dinner, etc. I was in bed by 8:30 last night. Tonight will be after Biggest Loser.

One busy girl! And did I mention I was supposed to start my mini training schedule this week?! My plan is to run tomorrow!

So, how is your week? Busy? Anything fun happening?
